Objects of Desire : My new linen curtains!
When we first viewed our top floor rental flat in Primrose Hill it was depressingly beige beige beige, and even more beige. The walls, the carpet, the joinery and even the curtains. Being a rental we were limited as to what we could improve, but you can be amazed what some colour can do.
After painting the walls a soft grey/blue, our next focus was the window dressing. As we don’t need to shut out much light in the living room, we were on the search for a very soft fabric that enhanced the colour outside…and this lead us to find LinenMe.
Made from flax fibers, linen has been grown for thousands of years and is one of the world’s oldest fabrics. I already have linen napkins that I love as they get softer by every wash, so the idea of soft light curtains in the most beautiful hues… they had me at hello!

Here we hung the pencil pleats, stone washed curtains in Spa Green which is just the most perfect colour; its almost exactly the same tone as the succulents.
I am completly in love with them- the pleats, the texture, the softness and most of all the colour! As the sunlight hits the fabric, it really enhances the natural texture, which is timeless but contemporary.
In the Master Bedroom we need darkness to sleep, so we chose a slightly thicker linen with a soft pattern in a darker navy blue. The heavier weight (260 gr/m2) of this pure linen in a herringbone weave means the Chevron curtain falls beautifully. This is Lara in French Blue.

If you are looking to freshen up an unloved room, I would highly recommend starting with your curtains. They can make the world of difference, softening up a harsh light with calming hues and natural texture. Head over to LinenMe to see more curtains, and also make sure to explore their gorgeous range of breathable soft linen bedsheets in contemporary pastels.. they are next on my wish list!
